ARTIST BIO
Heidi Herinckx is an artist who lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Herinckx has an extensive background in social science research and her artwork reflects a love of artistic expression and of scientific inquiry. Her work often reflects extensive research into biological, natural and sociological topics such as the history of psychiatric treatment of mental illness in the Western world from the 1500s to the present, the life and work of artist Frida Kahlo, the geometric patterns discovered in the birth of a new science- the study of chaos, the development of the visual representation of the chromosome, DNA, and mitosis. She describes herself as a colorist, infusing her work with brilliant color inspired by artists such as Matisse and Gustov Klimt.
Herinckx holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts and Sociology from University of Oregon, and a Masters in Sociology from Rutgers University. She has shown at several local and university galleries around the Portland area. |
